Browser support list
The excentos browser support list defines the browsers and mobile devices which are supported by excentos-tools. The browser support list is continuously updated to keep track with browsers and devices that your customers use.
Support Level | Browser / Devices / Operating Systems |
---|---|
Full Support for free | Desktop:
|
Paid Support |
For older and less frequently used browsers that are not included in the Full Support list above, excentos can provide individual support covered in a dedicated quote.
|
Additional information:
- The browser support list defines the support level for the major web browsers which cover the relevant market share. If there are other browsers using the same browser engine (e.g. Opera using Blink), they are typically supported - but excentos does not guarantee their support and does not test them
- All other browsers may work but are not tested; functionality and presentation may vary.
- Browsers which don't use JavaScript are not supported and display a customizable fallback message.
- 'Version' of a browser or Operating System denotes a major version (e.g. IE 11 versus IE 10, Firefox 43 versus Firefox 42; iOS 9 versus iOS 8).
- The AjaxClient also works when cookies are disabled
- If you only assigned excentos as a desktop solution, mobile devices can display the desktop user interface in Android and iOS device's native browers, however the usability will vary (especially touch events and animations).
- If you require changes to the browser support list / long-term support / other devices, please let us know and we will handle this in your individual contract (see §3-2 in the General Terms).
- Dedicated smartphone apps (e.g. iOS or android apps) are typically not supported because they are often built on modified our outdated web browsers. Please request an individual quote to support your smartphone apps
Frequent Update Policy
The excentos SaaS helps you keeping track with the latest browser technologies, releases of new browsers and version, changing device infrastructures and user habits and also the ever evolving web development standards. We also need to constantly adapt to changing hardware and software setups of desktop, tablet, smartphone and multi-mode devices. We thus follow a frequent update policy: The Browser Support levels effective for your applications are published and regularly updated on this website.
- Typically, new browsers are directly supported by excentos without any amendments required. However, some new browsers / browser versions may require changes to your application. excentos tries to support your application in new browsers and on new devices on our own initiative.
- However, severe browser / device changes may require new solutions that can only be implemented within a change request or major update of the application.
Thus the browsers supported by your application may adhere to the initial browser support list of the time when signing the contract. To be able keeping track with new browsers and devices, it may become necessary to change the support level or even unsupport old browsers that are no longer frequently used. - When excentos puts old browsers or old browser versions on end of support, we will not continue fixing bugs that are specific to this browser, and will begin to introduce features that aren't compatible with this browser.
- All specifications in the browser support list are only valid for a specific browser or browser version as long as it represents a significant usage ratio within your applications, say a minimum of 3,0%. If a browser accounts for less than this usage ratio, excentos may unsupport it for your application in favor of newer and more relevant browser technologies
If you have specific browser support requirements that are not in line with our frequent update policy or the standard Support Levels, please let us know and we will handle this in your individual contract.
